Background
Kathleen S. Lloyd, or Katie, is the principal lawyer at Lloyd Family Law. She is an experienced family law lawyer with a commitment to serving Simcoe County.
Katie graduated from McMaster University in 2001 with an Honours degree in psychology. She attended Osgoode Hall Law School, graduating in 2005. During her time at Osgoode, Katie became actively involved with Pro Bono Students Canada’s Family Law Project, where she not only volunteered but later served as the Program Coordinator. This experience had a lasting influence on her career, inspiring her interest in accessible legal support and her dedication to family law.
Following law school Katie articled at the Office of the Public Guardian and Trustee in Toronto. She was called to the bar in July 2006. Shortly after she moved to Simcoe County. She has been an associate lawyer with two of the largest full-service law firms in the area in addition to starting her own practice exclusively in family law.
Katie has represented clients in a variety of family law proceedings, including with regard to property division, child and spousal support, interjurisdictional support orders, parenting plans and decision making, restraining orders, child abductions, mobility of parents, as well as variations to support and parenting. Katie has represented clients in litigation as well as at mediations and arbitrations.
Currently, she is interning to become an accredited mediator, further enhancing her ability to help families resolve conflicts in a constructive and cost-effective manner.
